Elon Musk didn’t waste any time after he bought Twitter. His next idea would be to bring back Vine, which is a site for short videos.
Elon Musk, who now owns Twitter, asked his followers over the weekend if they wanted Vine to come back. I’m talking about the old Twitter video platform, which is no longer around. It was very popular for a while a few years ago, but bad management caused it to fall apart completely.
Well, Axios says that Elon Musk has already made the decision to bring Vine back to life. The same medium says that the manager told a group of Twitter engineers to start working on bringing Vine back. Even stranger is that he plans to come back this year.
Can it be done? When we think about how few months are left until 2022, it looks complicated. Elon Musk’s idea is for engineers to use the Vine source code as a starting point. This would save a lot of time because the engineers wouldn’t have to start from scratch. But a source close to Axios says that it takes a lot of work to even pick up the code. So, it seems unlikely that they will be able to get it running in a short amount of time.

Elon Musk verdict on Vine
We can’t forget that Vine started out as its own platform. Twitter didn’t let people buy it until 2012, when it wanted to add more video content and made it possible to do so. After that, the company, which was run at the time by Jack Dorsey, had trouble making money off of its new product. Vine started to lose popularity, and in 2016, Twitter decided to shut it down “forever.”

Who would have thought that Elon Musk would buy Twitter six years later and then bring Vine back? No one could…
Vine’s comeback makes way too much sense. Short video clips, in particular, are taking the internet by storm right now. TikTok is one of the most popular social networks in the world for betting on this short-form format. Instagram and YouTube have tried to be like them, but they have not been as successful. Now, it’s clear that Elon Musk wants Twitter to also be in this market.
Even more recently, he asked, “What could we do to make it better than TikTok?” This makes us think that Elon Musk is willing to hear what people on Twitter have to say in order to make a better product this time. With all the changes that need to be made, it will be hard to bring the platform back to life.
