Google Maps now indicates the availability of charging points for electric cars

Along with charging points info, Google Maps shows if they’re available in the US and UK.

Google Maps has recently been modified to include EV charging points as an area of interest. Although this feature was initially only available in select countries like the United States and the United Kingdom, the company has since expanded it to include a very useful addition for those who drive electric vehicles and use these chargers: the ability to see if the chargers are in use right from the Google app.

The system will also tell if the charging points are taken or not. However, it is only functional with Chargemaster, EVgo, and SemaConnect.

ChargePoint

ChargePoint is coming soon. As some of the new proposals and the entire Tesla charger network are left out, so you’ll have to use apps or contact Tesla.

On this final issue, Google has promised that Tesla chargers would be added to the app at some point, but there is no word on when this will happen as of yet. In addition, it would be quite fascinating to have data from the Tesla supercharger network included. As they are present in more regions than Chargemaster, EVgo, and SemaConnect. This suggests that this functionality is going to be available in more European countries.

We will have to wait and see how this feature develops and how the firm gradually adds other charging sites. For now, despite its apparent utility, its restricted availability outside of the US and the UK makes it a very impractical option.
