The USB Promoter Group announced USB 4 Version 2.0, which is twice as fast as Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4. Its full list of technical specs will be released in November.
The new USB 4 Version 2.0 is now official. It will be a big step forward in terms of technology compared to the current version. The USB Promoter Group said that the new specification are coming soon. It will allow a USB-C cable and connector to transfer data at speeds of up to 80 Gbps.
This is a big change because it’s twice as fast as the original USB 4 and Thunderbolt. These devices released in recent years. But the full list of technical features won’t be made public until November, before the USB DevDays events.
Outside of the details, there is a very important fact that shouldn’t be missed. A new physical layer architecture will be used for USB 4 Version 2.0 so that it can support data transfer rates of up to 80 Gbps. It will use newer, faster active USB-C cables, but it will also work with the 40Gbps passive USB-C cables that are already in use.
As expected, the new USB 4 will keep a lot of the same features as its predecessors. With USB 4 version 1.0, USB 3.2, USB 2.0, and Thunderbolt 3.
With the release of USB 4 Version 2.0, it will be easier to use DisplayPort and PCI Express. However, it will require the latest version of each. The creators of the USB 3.2 specification say that it will be updated to improve performance and be able to go faster than 20 Gbps. The USB Power Delivery standard will also be made better.

No one knows yet when the public will be able to use the new USB 4 Version 2.0. From the USB Promoter Group, they said that this specification will be for developers for the time being. There has also been no set date for when USB 80 Gbps-labeled certified cables and products will start to show up. Though it has been said that this will happen “in the future.”
